Kindergarten Registration: What you need to do

• Be in line by 9:10; students need time to get to their classroom and be ready for instruction at 9:15
  
• Parent/Guardians: Please remain in your vehicle when dropping off or picking up
• Upon arrival: please prepare students to have backpacks ready for a smooth drop-off
• Please have students exit the vehicle on the passenger side for safety
• Thank you for your help to make our car rider line a safe and smooth process!

• End of day dismissal begins at 3:45
  
• ANY change to dismissal plan MUST be communicated with the office directly
• Send a note any time there is a change in the usual dismissal plan.
• You can also call the front office before 3:00 to change dismissal plans.
• Only the people you designated on the registration packet can check out your child from school.

• Students are tardy after 9:15. An adult must walk the child to the office to sign them in.
  
• For security purposes, parents are not to walk their child to classroom. We will have plenty of help to guide them off the buses or out of cars!
  
• Please help us foster independence!
  
• All MCPS Schools have an buzz-in entry system.
• To check out your child early, you will need your picture ID.
• Entry to school during school hours (lunch, volunteer, conferences) you will need a government-issued photo ID that is cross-checked with the sexual offender database.

Help your child practice writing their name with a capital letter followed by lowercase letters

Have your child practice stating their first and last name when asked.

Holding and using scissors properly

Holding and using pencils and crayons

Independently putting on and taking off their jackets

Independently fixing sleeves when turned inside out

Buttoning and unbuttoning their pants or jackets

Hanging up their belongings

Taking care of their personal belongings

Learn to open food items & clean up area

All students should know how to wipe themselves and dress themselves

Close the door when going to the bathroom

Flushing the toilet

Physical Exam and Immunization Certification

(required - may be provided after registration,

but must be provided before the first day of school).
